Next Saturday, Feb. 11, the Hippodrome Theatre will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Hipp Cinema, which screens 300 films each year in Gainesville. Join the Hipp at 6 p.m. to take part in an elegant and fun evening of wine tasting, delicious food, live music and good friends. Proceeds will help fund improvements to the cinema sound system, including upgrades to provide assistance to the hearing impaired.
Tickets are $25 on the Hippodrome website and $35 at the door. Congratulations to the Hippodrome for reaching this great milestone!

The Hippodrome productions and programs attract over 200,000 patrons annually, including 30,000 visitors from outside of Alachua County who stay in local hotels, patronize local businesses and participate in other area events. The theatre, which is open for public performances 340 days a year, attracts as many as 1,000 people to the downtown area each day. The Hipp provides the most extensive cultural programming in the region with 8 plays, 300 film screenings, 10 festivals, 16 Guest Artists Talkbacks, 12 visual arts exhibitions and hundreds of other programs annually. Our annual budget of $2.7 million dollars has an $8.1 million economic impact on the local economy.
