Goals
- Short-term: Complete feasibility study
- Medium-term: Complete Pre-opening/planning for Center
- Long-term: Complete early-stage implementation and have a fully operational world-class training entity
Organizational Home/Plan Champions
- Home: New entity would be envisioned with its own structure, personnel, and facilities
- Champions: Training Center Board – determined with help of business leaders, Chamber of Commerce, School Board, SFC, UF, and City and County governments
Resource Requirements
- Leadership: The center would have its own board of directors and leaders
- Infrastructure: The center would have its own facilities or lease space
- Capital: A funding strategy would be researched and determined during feasibility study
Assessment Criteria
Metrics
- X percent reduction in unemployment rate of target population
- X percent increased in skilled labor pool
- X percent increase higher-skilled, higher paying jobs from baseline
- X increase in the region’s educational attainment, particularly minorities
- X percent reduction in crime rate
- X amount of private capital dollars invested
Investment Requirement: High (new infrastructure, organization needed, significant funding – over $1 million)
Impacts: High (transformative potential for adult education in region)
Readiness: Low (Resources not yet in place across the board)
Implementation Timeline: Long-term, potential for feasibility study as sub-element to move in immediate-term
